Things I Know #34

#34.  If A is "political" and B is opposition to A, then B is also "political".

I find it funny that politicians are always accusing each other of doing things for political purposes.

Duh!

"Political," like "ideological" (and "fascist," "racist," "sexist," and "homophobic," for that matter), is just another leftist euphemism for "you're winning the debate, damn it!"

When they do something using nothing but barely-legal subsections and loopholes and penumbras -- like, say, ramming socialized medicine down our throats -- that's all sweetness and light and nobility. Because, hey, it's the Prime Axiom of Liberalism: Liberals want only Good; therefore anything liberals want is by definition Good.

When we oppose this, or do something involving votes, then it's "ideological" or "political."

[My ideal response to this is "of course it's ideological, you jackass. I believe in constitutional government. In fact, I've put a lot of thought into my positions and am prepared to defend them in reasoned debate, starting from first principles. Since I'm sure you can do the same -- after all, liberals are soooo much smarter than the rest of us -- let's have a discussion, shall we?"

And then they call you a racist. But whatever. It'd sure be fun]

I like it!

John Lennox recently said, "When my opponent gets louder it tells me he knows his argument is weak."
